United for sustainability

In order to reduce the environmental impact of our trade shows and make more sustainable events, at Barcelona Wine Week we carry out different actions. We are aware that it is necessary to implement sustainable measures to fight climate change aiming to set an example for our sector.

Towards Zero Impact (TZI) is a project that contributes to the implementation of all kinds of measures in relation to sustainability, both on an environmental and social level, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs set an agenda of goals for the year 2030 and aim to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.

BWW WITH THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Zero Waste and Recycling

Zero Waste is an initiative that aims to generate less waste during events and its recycling. Among the actions developed in this area, we highlight:

Installation of recycling islands for the separation and selective collection of waste into 3 fractions

Collaboration with Ecovidrio for the collection and management of glass waste

Reusing of stands and furnishings from previous editions

Collaboration with Catalan Cork Institute for the collection of corks

Badge, lanyard and pass holder collection at the exit of the venue

All media printed on recycled paper with the FSC label

Elimination of single-use plastics in Gastrofira restaurants

Collaboration with Fundació Portolà for the recycling of canvas

Sustainable water

Opt for sustainable, healthy, efficient and + fun water management!

We provide exhibitors and visitors with water dispensers suitable for drinking, as well as reusable bottles to refill at each of these points. HappyAgua and BWW collaborate to eliminate single-use packaging from the event and offer an alternative water service, healthy and respectful with the planet.

HappyAgua; think blue!

HappyAgua is a sustainable alternative for water consumption and management that mitigates CO2 emissions and water footprint, eliminates single-use plastics, is local and of proximity.

Freshly microfiltered water of excellent quality, healthy and that optimizes resources and processes to achieve better performance and savings.

Look for water bottles at the accreditation desk, in BWW Gastronomy and CIS and get your own!

Recycling of corks

Recycling containers for the collection of corks will be located all over the venue.

Our objective is to give a second life to the used corks by collecting them, crushing them and mixing them with glue to use them in tree surrounds and playground pavements.

This circular economy project, called ALCORKE, is promoted by the Catalan Cork Institute Foundation and the Catalan Waste Agency.

Zero Plastic

Zero Plastic is an initiative that focuses on the reduction and elimination of all types of single-use plastics throughout the venue:

Cardboard pass holder

Disposal of single-use plastics in restaurants (bottles, cutlery, plates)

CO2 compensation and reduction

We travel in a greener way

Whenever possible, our speakers and hosted buyers will travel by train rather than by plane in order to reduce the environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions of their journeys.

Public transport discount

To reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and encourage the use of public transport to move around the city, we offer a 10% discount on the purchase of the Hola Barcelona Travel Card.
