    The tasting presentation will be a tasting of the best ARLANZA wines from the most hidden vineyards in Spain. Smallholding, family viticulture, romantic viticulture will be the focus of the exhibition. Native varieties in the process of recovery along with ancestral elaborations will be the subject of tasting in this activity. Vineyards at more than 1000 meters above sea level along with a continental climate of Atlantic influence will be the unmistakable protagonists of the personality of the wines to be tasted in this activity. White wines, red wines and surprising rosés will be tasted and commented on by attendees.

    The Conca de Barberà Designation of Origin proposes a guided tasting that will allow you to discover the different expressions of its emblematic variety, Trepat, made in various containers: foudre, barrel, wine eggs, amphora...

    Trepat is a red grape variety native to the region, with which wines are crafted that are light-bodied and fruity. The tour of the different Trepat wines of the Conca de Barberà DO will enable you to learn directly about the revival of some traditional production methods and their coexistence with some modern techniques, broadening the spectrum of distinctive wines produced with this unique variety.

    The activity will be conducted in Spanish.

    In this tasting, Mireia Torres, R+D director at Familia Torres, accompanied by the sommelier Sergi Castro, will show how this century-old winery adapts oenological innovation to the different territories in which it is present. In a journey through four appellations of origin (Rias Baixas, Ribera del Duero, Costers del Segre and Penedès), the wines that will be presented stand out for their innovative component in terms of production and ageing in different containers such as clay vessels, amphorae, egg-shaped granite vessles or cement tanks made from the soil of the vineyard from which the wine comes.

    'The Magnificent 7' has become too small for us to review the excellence of the DO Ribera del Duero. In this fourth edition of the Barcelona Wine Week I have selected 10 wonderful riverside reds for an unprecedented and unrepeatable tasting. As the long-awaited winemaker Paco Rodero (Pago de los Capellanes) explained to me in 2022, Ribera del Duero “is a designation of origin with centuries of history behind it, carved by our ancestors, taking care of their land and subsequently raising our wines among the most relevant in the world.”

    At the beginning of 2021, the Plataforma Tecnológica del Vino (Wine Technology Platform) launched the Govalmavin initiative “Valorization of traditional materials for the vinification of quality wines.” A project that seeks to demonstrate alternative production and aging methods, which combine modern oenological knowledge with classic materials, such as clay jars. Round table with unique tasting, in which producers who are members of the project will participate.

    One more year, enoAula training center and Barcelona Wine Week pay tribute and recognition to the main figures in wine worldwide, who unfortunately have left us. In this second edition, tribute is paid to Carlos Esteva, his person and career, who died in June 2023 at the age of 72. He was the founder of Can Ràfols dels Caus in 1979, in Avinyonet del Penedès. He was the promoter and great defender of Garraf wines and the first president of Associació de Viticultors del Massís del Garraf. He was a pioneer in betting on the Xarel·lo variety fermented in chestnut barrels, shining with his Xarel·lo Pairal. The event will feature family members and people who knew and admired him.
