The Conca de Barberà Designation of Origin proposes a guided tasting that will allow you to discover the different expressions of its emblematic variety, Trepat, made in various containers: foudre, barrel, wine eggs, amphora...

Trepat is a red grape variety native to the region, with which wines are crafted that are light-bodied and fruity. For Cajamar this is more than a book. Our work “El vino de alta gama en España: en el camino de la excelencia” is a tribute to a job well done, and apparently still without limits. Spain has an ancient tradition whose evolution has given rise to the creation of numerous high-end wines, wineries and wine-growing territories. However, this reality is insufficiently known outside our borders. Our sector needs to improve its strategic positioning and show the quantity and quality of its best wines. In addition, it needs to inspire and promote new wine projects guided by the search for excellence. This book is a contribution to that double challenge. A cast of 17 experts, from 5 countries, analyzes the concept of high-end in the world of wine, the image of Spanish wines in international markets, the lessons that can be learned from other countries and the situation of high-end Spanish wine range.

A dialogue between renowned Spanish sommeliers and winemakers with a track record of international success, on the importance of highlighting the excellence of Spanish wines as a lever for increasing exports and as one of the keys to the future. The new Wines from Spain awards, launched this year by ICEX, were created with the aim of vindicating the quality and commitment to the territory of the Wines of Spain.

Alicante is one of the historical areas in wine production, with a great archaeological, varietal and historical heritage. Among its great milestones is the creation of barrel formats, known by the name of Alicante barrels, or monoveros, thanks to a specific guild that lived in the city itself for centuries. Today nothing remains of that, but the work of winemakers in country houses and old facilities has allowed this heritage to be recovered. Especially thanks to the aging of Fondillón, this mythical wine that is kept silently for decades in the old cellars of the region.

The UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism is the leading international event in the field of wine tourism. Since 2016, it has been held annually in various destinations around the world, each time exploring a unique theme.

Held under the theme "Inclusive, sustainable, and digital wine tourism: Building stronger territorial cohesion," the 2023 edition emphasized the significance of training, establishing robust governance models and on integrating advanced data systems and digitalization as catalysts for promoting inclusive and sustainable development in local communities within wine tourism destinations.  

This presentation aims to highlight the key conclusions drawn from the event.

At the beginning of 2021, the Plataforma Tecnológica del Vino (Wine Technology Platform) launched the Govalmavin initiative “Valorization of traditional materials for the vinification of quality wines.” A project that seeks to demonstrate alternative production and aging methods, which combine modern oenological knowledge with classic materials, such as clay jars. Aimed at professionals in the viticulture industry, this session will offer an analysis and insights on the importance of communication in the wine industry. With a focus on practical strategies and relevant case studies, the conference will center on how companies can differentiate themselves in a highly competitive market and how to adapt their message to an ever-evolving global landscape. Of particular interest to commercial and marketing teams of wineries and regulatory councils., this session will provide tools and knowledge to tackle communication for the wine industry.

Wine tasting from the 15 producers integrated in the group called Parajes y Majuelos, with wineries located in different spanish regions with the common idea of respect to the traditional training systems and indigenous grapes and winemakings that show the places where the wines are coming from. Each cellar will present a wine considered by them as a reference for their project.

The potential of cork oak forests and the cork sector to create social and ecological value has often been recognized, but until now this value has not been comprehensively estimated. The Catalan Cork Institute Foundation has commissioned the study “Socio-economic and environmental value of the Catalan cork industry” to the MANGO Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility of the ESCI-UPF School of International Business to analyze and calculate in monetary terms the global value created for the Catalan cork sector to the society.

We will discuss their conclusions with leading agents from the forestry, industrial and academic sectors and see how they can be applied to the world of wine.

One more year, enoAula training center and Barcelona Wine Week pay tribute and recognition to the main figures in wine worldwide, who unfortunately have left us. In this second edition, tribute is paid to Carlos Esteva, his person and career, who died in June 2023 at the age of 72. He was the founder of Can Ràfols dels Caus in 1979, in Avinyonet del Penedès. He was the promoter and great defender of Garraf wines and the first president of Associació de Viticultors del Massís del Garraf. He was a pioneer in betting on the Xarel·lo variety fermented in chestnut barrels, shining with his Xarel·lo Pairal. The event will feature family members and people who knew and admired him.

The world of wine accumulate many myths and legends transmitted through decades that had been encrusted culturally in the mind of the consumer. We will uncover the truth about these myths through argumentation.
